Rock Radio UKAbout us? It is essentially about all of us, our love of music , our community, our family, our sense of inclusion.
Rock Radio UK was created over ten years ago by Phil & Jules Hampton, after a decade of keeping the airwaves alive with Rock music from around the world and gathering a mountain of followers, they decided to step aside and let someone else take the helm.
In steps Dave Cyberbaby and his wife Trudi. Dave’s only experience in Radio was as a Breakfast DJ on a few stations beforehand and the ability to string a few words together in reviews. A steep learning curve later and with help from a very solid team of DJ’s, Rock Radio UK is possibly the largest independent internet Rock Radio Station in the UK. It is funded purely by donations from the hosts, a believer in the station and the pockets of Dave & Trudi.
Dave may be the driving force behind the Station but it is the team that brings it all together. From one Station, we are now four, with another of Phil’s Stations coming under the umbrella, Blues Radio UK and the recent start up of Metal Radio UK and Gold Radio UK, as a team we now offer a broad spectrum of music to listen to on one website!
Along with this, we bring a digital Magazine with reviews and interviews to you on a (semi) regular basis. This has taken a back seat of late so that we can concentrate on the new Stations.
2026 will see the start of a new era for Rock Radio UK. We have decided to make four promises.
We promise to deliver quality content for you to read and listen to, we will become a not-for-profit organisation so that we are transparent to where the donations you guys give us, are spent. But more importantly, we all want to leave a legacy. Rock Radio UK is bigger than just one person, none of us at the Station believe we are any better than anyone else. Without you, the loyal listeners, we would all just be talking to ourselves! So how do we leave a legacy?
We promise to champion grass roots music alongside the more well known bands. If you are here to listen to a ‘new’ AC/DC track then the next band you hear maybe someone you have never heard of before and that band may be your new ‘favourite’ band. We will also plug away at the Live scene and bring you Exe Rocks each. year while it is financially sustainable to do so. Some of the Bands on the Bill will be grass root bands. We want Rock Radio UK to be the Station renowned for helping young bands and not charging them for the privilege. Along with this, we will continue to Champion Call Of The Wild Festival who hold very similar values to our own. It is a gathering of friends that we all consider family.
We promise to deliver an advert-free Station so you don’t have to listen to endless, mindless waffle when you tune in. We will have show sponsors and we will advertise in the Magazine. We are open to product placement in videos and tasteful adverts on the website. We do need a revenue stream but we do not want to compromise the quality of our content. A top of the hour News feed is considered but this does come with a 30 second advert which is beyond our control.
We promise to do our best to raise money for four deserving Charities. For around a year, we have supported The Sophie Lancaster Foundation that highlights the difficulties that many of us encounter, being discriminated for being ‘Different’. We are one community, we all have the right to be ‘ourselves’ and this Charity has made a massive difference by educating people. Along with this, we will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West. Trudi’s work is with life-limited Children and this is a Charity close to Trudi & Heart. Heavy Metal Therapy is the third Charity, helping adults with their Mental He have all lost friends to the ‘Black Dog’ and this is something that cuts very dee those affected. If we can be there for just one person then all of this is worth The final Charity is Livewire in Saltash. This is a music based youth charity that youth club but also acts as a beacon for troubled Teens. Both of Dave’s Boys had access to Livewire and it is time to give something back for their help.
So this is us, this is what we do. We are a community, a family and we want everyone to feel included. Rock Radio UK is about all of us and this is the legacy that we want to leave behind.
